Viet Nam Telecommunications Authority is an agency performing consultative and regulatory functions in the field of telecommunications according to the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 35/2011/QD-TTg dated June 27th, 2011 on rights, responsibilities and structure of Viet Nam Telecommunications Authority within the Ministry of Information and Communications.
Viet Nam Telecommunications Authority is established on August 15th, 2011 – the occasion of 66th anniversary of Viet Nam Posts and Telecommunications Industry’s Day, and is the 159th established telecommunications regulator among 192 members of the International Telecommunications Union.
Aiming at facilitating sustainable development of telecommunications market, enhancing competitiveness of telecommunications operators and services providers, bringing telecommunications services with high quality and affordable tariff, and parallel to maintaining and expanding telecommunications universal services to eligible consumers nationwide, Viet Nam Telecommunications Authority supervises fulfillment of commitments of telecommunications operators and telecommunication services providers’ upon their license applications; regulates telecommunications infrastructure, interconnection, tariff, promotion and services quality; allocates telecommunications numbers; deals with disputes settlement among telecommunications operators and services providers; and provides information about telecommunications operators and services.
